A New Birth of Freedom

This work was commissioned by the “President’s Own” Marine Band of Washington, DC in 2009, in anticipation of a special performance by that ensemble on the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. This narrative piece features the recitation of Lincoln’s famous “Gettysburg” address, and is appropriate for performance at any celebration of American patriotic values.

The original wind ensemble version of this work has here been transcribed by the composer for performance by orchestral forces.
