Christmas Flourish
RBM – 103a
TTBB chorus with multiple accompaniments

This original version of this carol medley was commissioned by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 1992 and has been performed nationwide on Holiday and Christmas programs – both in the concert hall and for church-based presentations. This version of the work is scored for Soprano Solo (or optional Tenor Solo), TTBB Chorus and full orchestra, or reduced orchestra, or brass quintet / percussion / organ.

The following four carols appear, without interruption, in this manner:

  • Shiloh (William Billings)
  • Joy To The World
  • Silent Night (German / English)
  • Angels We Have Heard On High

This arrangement has also been voiced for SATB and may be performed using any of the available accompaniments.

The original, full orchestration (3333 / 4331, timp, 3 perc, hp, org, stgs), as well as a reduced orchestration (2121 / 2220, 2 perc, hp, org, stgs) are available for this work on a rental-only basis.* The accompaniment has also been transcribed for wind ensemble [RBM-209] by the arranger, this version being available for purchase. Finally, a version for brass quintet, percussion and organ [RBM-209a] has been prepared by the arranger for use in smaller venues.

The final section of this arrangement, Angels We Have Heard On High [RBM-014a], has been extracted as a separate publication, and is also available voiced for SATB [RBM-014]. The accompanying orchestration for this extract is also available for purchase.

The original, full-orchestral version of this piece has been commercially recorded by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Chorus on their 2000 CD release Dallas Christmas Gala, Delos Recording #3267.
