SATB chorus with Piano or Large OrchestraThis setting of the traditional Catholic Christmas text was commissioned by the Hickory Choral Society of Hickory, NC. Conceived as an extended 4-movement work for SATB chorus with no soloists, the piece is similar in cast to the composer’s GLORIA and EXULTATE JUSTI settings. Rhythmic, fanfare-like material is contrasted with lyrical and introspective sections, with creative use of bright orchestral color and varying choral textures. The work is scored for large orchestra (3333 4331 timp 3 perc hp stgs) and is available on a rental-only basis. Although the choral music is available only as a unified whole, orchestrations for the individual movements may be rented separately. All rentals arranged through E. C. Schirmer Publishing.  |
