RBM-024 | Psalm 36

Psalm 36
RBM-024
SATB Chorus with Organ, Brass and Percussion Accompaniment

This anthem was composed to honor one of the composer’s academic mentors on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The work was premiered at a celebration in his honor at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, featuring ensembles from that institution under the baton of faculty member Brett Scott. The entire text of Psalm 36 is utilized, using the R. S. V. translation.

The character of the music is at times fanfare-like, with intervening passages of more lyric sensibility. The setting is mostly homophonic, wherein the text is highly discernible by ear. The organ part is moderately difficult and the brass parts are challenging but quite playable by skilled adult amateur or professional players.

( dur: 4:00″ )

The instrumental support package for this work (brass quintet, organ and 2 percussion) is available for purchase from the distributor [RBM-239], ECS Publishing.
