SATB chorus with Piano or Large Orchestra or Wind Ensemble

This arrangement was created for the Chicago Symphony and Chorus in 2005 for their “Welcome Yule” presentations of that year. The original version was fashioned as an instrumental-only setting of four bell-song arrangements that had appeared in other carols settings by the arranger over time, with the vocal parts having been substituted for by orchestral instruments.

This version restores the vocal parts to the texture, the orchestrations having been thinned back to their original density.

The work is scored for SATB chorus, large orchestra (3333 4331 timp 3 perc hp pno stgs) with the carols appearing in the following sequence (performed without pause):

  • I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
  • Ukrainian Bell Carol
  • Ding, Dong Merrily on High
  • Jingle Bells

( dur: 6:00″ )
