TTBB Chorus with Piano or Orchestral AccompanimentThis work was commissioned in 2006 by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, for inclusion that same year in their subscription Holiday concerts. The original arrangement was scored for SATB mixed chorus [RBM-021], and this edition represents a re-voicing for male (TTBB) chorus. The original tune for “Joy to the World” was written in 1839 by Lowell Mason, the text having been created by noted hymn-writer Isaac Watts. As the title suggests, this arrangement of the famous carol contains much in the way of brass and fanfare-like passages – which are interspersed with choral iterations (somewhat in the style of theme and variations) of the famous tune. This arrangement is ideally suited as the opening number for either half of a choral-orchestral Holiday concert, and has been utilized successfully in such fashion by many such ensembles since its creation. A TTBB re-voicing of this piece has been created for use by male choruses. [RBM-021a] ( dur: 4:30 ” ) Full Orchestra: The full orchestration is available for this work on a rental-only basis from ECS Publishing.
